| IFA Joins Pact for the Semi-Arid |
|

|
Since June this year, Instituto Fazer Acontecer has made part of a Pact for the Eradication of Poverty. IFA’s engagement in this initiative is vital for its intention of extending educational sport across the Semi-Arid. Making part of the Pact sets IFA as an important player for the improvement of the lify quality of children and teenagers, in addition to favor partnerships with public and private organizations that assist the youth of the countryside of Bahia.
The Pact for the Semi-Arid was signed in Brasília by the governors of eleven States to improve the life of children and teenagers who live in tough conditions in 1,400 Brazilian cities. The initiative is coordinated by Unicef and determines that, by 2015, its signees must eradicate extreme poverty and starvation, provide universal basic education, promote equality of sexes and women’s autonomy, and reduce children mortality.

| IFA admitted as member of ISCA |
|
|
|
|
IFA was admitted as member of ISCA (International Sport and Culture Association) during the latest organization’s congress held in October in Paris. The partnership with ISCA will allow IFA to display its work to an organization that fosters sport all over the world. The partnership is extremely important for the development of IFA’s future actions once it enables the creation of strategic partnerships, the participation in sport events and congresses as well as fundraising overseas. | IFA provides training program in Muquém do São Francisco |
|

|
Past October, IFA trained in education sport 43 teachers of the public education system of the city of Muquém do São Francisco, located around 750 km from the city of Salvador. The training program was very well evaluated by the teachers and at the end a management committee for the local development of educational sport was created, in addition to the Letter of Muquém do São Francisco. This document is intended to guide the construction of a public policy on education sport in the Semi-Arid.

| Castelo Branco gains IFA class |
|
|
|
|
IFA began operating in the community of Castelo Branco, in Salvador, in June this year. 80 teenagers aged around 14 years old who receive sport and citizenship classes in the local soccer field. The project exists thanks to the partnership with GFC (Global Fund for Children).
Visit
GFC representative Sandra Del Villar was in Salvador past November to get to know the new project the organization works on in conjunction with IFA in the neighborhood of Castelo Branco. In this visit, Sandra had an up-close opportunity to see the children and teenagers assisted by the partnership as well as talk with beneficiaries’ mothers. IFA now adds one more European partner, AITC (Albion in the Community), organization that works with soccer in Europe, Africa and Asia. The partnership is another possibility of exchanging experiences and knowledge on organizations’ practices. Past August, our institute received the visit of Sebastian Morua, AITC project officer, who visited the projects in Recanto Feliz and Castelo Branco, evaluating them positively. IFA receives the visit of the representative of the Inter-American Foundation for Brazil |

|
Past October, the representative of the Inter-American Foundation for Brazil Amy Kirschenbaum was in em Salvador to evaluate the projects led by iFA in 2010 in the cities of Ichu and Retirolândia.
During the visit, Amy was introduced to the UNICEF coordinator Ruy Pavan and the Pact for the Semi-Arid representative José Carlito. In the meeting, possible ways of joint operation between the organizations were discussed for the development of projects in the Semi-arid region. |

IFA coordinator nominated by GFC for award in Chicago |
|
|
|
|
In September this year, the largest and oldest foreign relations council in the United States - Chicago Council of Global Affairs – requested to The Global Fund for Children the nomination of one of its donees in Brazil to apply for an award granted for works performed in favor of the transformation ot the local society. GFC’s offices in Washington has chosen Renato Paes de Andrade, IFA executive coordinator, to apply for the 10-thousand dollar award.

IFA joins Caravan for the Eradication of Child Work |

|
|
IFA was in the cities of Boquira, Rio do Pires, Paramirim, Ibipitanga, Caturama, Tanque Novo, Botuporã and Macaúbas past November with the Caravan for the Eradication of Child Work in the Semi-arid. The caravan counted on the support of several Departments of the State of Bahia, Ufba and Uneb. The initiative was considered very positive by Renato Paes de Andrade, IFA coordinator, as it opened a number of channels of dialogue with the local society.

IFA to advise on the Sport Incentive Law |
|
|
|
|
As of February, 2012, IFA will begin providing advisory for third sector organizations and city governments in the countryside of the State of Bahia on the development of education sport projects. The sport incentive law enables companies to invest, through tax incentive, up to 1% of the income tax over profit owed in sport and parasport projects.

Rejupe (Youth Network United for Sport) is a channel of communication between Brazilian teenagers and youngsters released during the Meeting of Adolescents for the Right to Safe and Inclusive Sport held in April, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro.
The new space of integration was created in order to provide the exchange of experiences among participants from several regions in the country who have been developing important actions in their cities for the advocacy, dissemination and promotion of sport as provided by the UN Convention on the Rights of Children.
